On Friday, we made some changes with the deadlines, but unfortuately most of it is still due on Monday....

Nov. 14th Monday --> Write- ups (this is a draft but will be given to the either principal or Ms. Eala or Ms. Tei to have it approved)
The write-ups can be written however you want it... as long as it is somewhat "formal" and without any profanity or slang. You can have a poem or sentences from every person in your barkada...
Nov. 14th --> the brown envelope with the two sheets of paper (Batch Dicitonary and the Individual page)
Batch dictionary is just the cover spread and won't be in your individual page
Nov. 15th Tuesday --> Layout of introductory page for the Kahunas IV-3 (Kris is doing... Thanks)
If you want your Ball pics or Xmas break pics in the yearbook, then just tell me. THere just has to be three. You can photoshop a few pictures and merge it into one... The requirement is just to have three seperate pictures of either you, family, friends,etc.

Guidelines:
- should be formal (correct grammar and spelling)
- should contain minumum of 100 words and MAXIMUM of 150 words
- Anyone (Yourself/friend/family/bf or gf- whatever you're into) can do the write-up
- should be doublespaced and 12pt font (times new roman)... just for now

Procedure for submission:
1) Submit 1 "soft" copy (in Word) and 1 "hard" copy to Ms. Tei or myself ON OR BEFORE November 14

TRADE JUSTICE
 System of rules that would benefit third world countries for them to compete in the world market especially in the dawn of globalization
 Powerful force to reduce poverty
 Unfair trading rules hinder developing countries from their own resources
 Live 8 concerts, rallies and protest, trade talks have been held to promote trade justice and make people more aware of our situation.
 Voting online on Make poverty history websites, wearing the white band, supporting organizations that promote r trade justice, change economic policies and protect public services are ways to implement trade justice
 TRADE JUSTICE ensures that developing countries get enough financial compensation for the goods they’re selling and that the relationship between these countries and their donors (richer countries that help them) will have minimum conditions for the help given to the developing countries. – 8th MDGs main goal

TRADE JUSTICE AND THE MDGS
MDG 1: If trade justice is implemented, local industries would be able to prosper and
compete to raise itself from poverty. Governments would be able to focus more
on public service for the people, granting them job security, adequate food supply for developing nations.

MDG 2: In connection with the the MDG on education, children may now experience
going to school. Their government may now have enough money to support urban areas as they can establish schools in these areas deprived of education.

MDG 3: If trade justice is implemented, it will allow the people to improve their
Lifestyles and livelihood and because of this, they will be able to send women to school to have a proper education instead of staying home and doing chores while men go to work.

MDG 4: If trade justice is implemented, there is a greater chance for the Philippine
economy to improve due to the fact that it aims to support local industries.
If this happens, a better future would be available for the next generation.

MDG 5: If trade justice is implemented, the medicines and other maternal equipment
necessary will be more affordable; thus, securing their health.

MDG 6: If trade justice is implemented, affordable drugs for curing/ preventing AIDS
would be accessible. This would lessen the rate of the people with AIDS in
world.

MDG 7: “Biodiversity” is a global problem that needs global solutions.” The
environment should be protected as to prevent exploitation to the right to life. Trade Justice would help restore nature.

MDG 8: This is the most important MDG for it gives meaning to all the other 7.
It suggests actions to the other MDGs. One of its main goals is to ensure
the developing countries get enough financial compensation for the goods

Holocaust, the name given to the period of persecution and extermination of European Jews by Nazi Germany. Although anti-Semitism in Europe has a long history, persecution of German Jews began with Hitler's rise to power in 1933. Jews were disenfranchised, then terrorized in anti-Jewish riots (such as Kristallnacht), forced into the ghettos, their property seized, and finally were sent to concentration camps. After the outbreak of World War II, Hitler established death camps to secretly implement what he called "the final solution of the Jewish question." Extermination squads were also sent to the fronts: In one operation alone, over 30,000 Jews were killed at Babi Yar, outside Kiev. After 450,000 Jews were sent to death camps from the Warsaw Ghetto, news of their fate led the last 60,000 to rebel (1943), fighting until they were killed, captured, or escaped to join the resistance. The main Jewish resistance was spiritual: observing their religion and refraining from suicide, while Zionists evacuated some to Palestine. By the end of the war 6 million Jews had been systematically murdered. The Allies refused rescue attempts and American Jews were warned against attempting them. While the European churches were silent, some clergy and individual non-Jews saved many. The Danes sent all Danish Jews to Sweden in private boats in the face of the Nazi takeover.
After the war Nazi leaders were tried for war crimes at Nuremburg, and West Germany later adopted (1953) the Federal Compensation Law, under which billions of dollars were paid to those who survived Nazi persecution. In the mid-1990s a number of suits were filed against Swiss banks that held accounts belonging to Holocaust victims but had denied the fact and failed to restore the money. A settlement reached in 1998 established a $1.25 billion fund to be used to compensate those who can document their claims and, more generally, Holocaust survivors, the latter as restitution for undocumented accounts and for Swiss profits on Nazi accounts involving Holocaust victims' property. In 1998 the Roman Catholic Church issued a document acknowledging Catholic complicity in the long-standing European anti-Semitism that was background to the Holocaust. Under the terms of an agreement signed in 2000 by the United States and Germany, a $5 billion fund was established by the German government and German industry to compensate those who were slave or forced laborers or who suffered a variety of other losses under the Nazi regime.
The destruction of European Jewry has demanded a reevaluation by Jews the world over. The renascent Jewish community in the state of Israel, itself largely a byproduct of the Holocaust, now serves as a focal point for much of this energy. A vast literature consisting of histories, diaries, memoirs, poetry, novels, and prayers has emerged in an effort to understand the Holocaust in terms of its religious and secular implications. The secular materials attempt to explain how it happened and the reactions of the victims; some have suggested that an underlying and pervasive anti-Semitism in Germany was fueled by a deep and complete despair combined with a corrosive and unacknowleged sense of worthlessness that had been created by crushing and humiliating hardships and the disintegration of the Weimar Republic. The religious materials focus on the problem of whether one can still speak in traditional Jewish terms of a God, active in history, who rewards the righteous and who maintains a unique relationship with the Jewish people. Museums and memorials have been established in a number of cities worldwide to preserve the memory of the Holocaust.

Civil Rights Movement in the United States, political, legal, and social struggle to gain full citizenship rights for black Americans and to achieve racial equality. The civil rights movement was first and foremost a challenge to segregation, the system of laws and customs separating blacks and whites that whites used to control blacks after slavery was abolished in the 1860s. During the civil rights movement, individuals and civil rights organizations challenged segregation and discrimination with a variety of activities, including protest marches, boycotts, and refusal to abide by segregation laws. Many believe that the movement began with the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955 and ended with the Voting Rights Act of 1965, though there is debate about when it began and whether it has ended yet. The civil rights movement has also been called the Black Freedom Movement, the Negro Revolution, and the Second Reconstruction.

1929—68, American clergyman and civil-rights leader, b. Atlanta, Ga., grad. Morehouse College (B.A., 1948), Crozer Theological Seminary (B.D., 1951), Boston Univ. (Ph.D., 1955). The son of the pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, King became (1954) minister of the Dexter Ave. Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala. He led the black boycott (1955—56) of segregated city bus lines and in 1956 gained a major victory and prestige as a civil-rights leader when Montgomery buses began to operate on a desegregated basis.
King organized the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), which gave him a base to pursue further civil-rights activities, first in the South and later nationwide. His philosophy of nonviolent resistance led to his arrest on numerous occasions in the 1950s and 60s. His campaigns had mixed success, but the protest he led in Birmingham, Ala., in 1963 brought him worldwide attention. He spearheaded the Aug., 1963, March on Washington, which brought together more than 200,000 people. In 1964 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
King's leadership in the civil-rights movement was challenged in the mid-1960s as others grew more militant. His interests, however, widened from civil rights to include criticism of the Vietnam War and a deeper concern over poverty. His plans for a Poor People's March to Washington were interrupted (1968) for a trip to Memphis, Tenn., in support of striking sanitation workers. On Apr. 4, 1968, he was shot and killed as he stood on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel (since 1991 a civil-rights museum).
James Earl Ray, a career criminal, pleaded guilty to the murder and was convicted, but he soon recanted, claiming he was duped into his plea. Ray's conviction was subsequently upheld, but he eventually received support from members of King's family, who believed King to have been the victim of a conspiracy. Ray died in prison in 1998. In a jury trial in Memphis in 1999 the King family won a wrongful-death judgment against Loyd Jowers, who claimed (1993) that he had arranged the killing for a Mafia figure. Many experts, however, were unconvinced by the verdict, and in 2000, after an 18-month investigation, the Justice Dept. discredited Jowers and concluded that there was no evidence of an assassination plot.

Eichmann, Adolf

(īkh´män) , 1906—62, German National Socialist official. A member of the Austrian Nazi party, he headed the Austrian office for Jewish emigration (1938). His zeal in deporting Jews brought him promotion (1939) to chief of the Gestapo's Jewish section. Eichmann promoted the use of gas chambers for the mass extermination of Jews in concentration camps, and he oversaw the maltreatment, deportation, and murder of millions of Jews in World War II. Arrested by the Allies in 1945, he escaped and settled in Argentina. He was located by Israeli agents in 1960 and abducted to Israel, where he was tried and hanged for crimes against the Jewish people and against humanity.
